Todd Sheaffer - If The Wind Blows (October 9th, 2004)
First of all, thanks to MK and all the other writers of Song Journal. I’ve spent an entire summer enjoying some really neat and vastly different songs than what I’ve listen to regularly, and discovered some real neat things along the way. In addition, it’s awesome to hear other people’s stories about songs. We may listen to different styles, but we sure all have relations to our different songs. It’s sweet to see them!
I had a hard time trying to pick something out for the first day. During the summer, I’ve been listening to songs and picking them in anticipation of writing in September, but I never actually picked a song to start with. I ended up with something fairly simple.
One of the few things I really enjoy about my old home NJ is this guy. His name is Todd Sheaffer and he’s the lead singer of local NJ group called Railroad Earth. You’ll hear a lot more about them later. He was also the lead guitarist for the late 80’s and 90’s group From Good Homes. Basically, things this guy does I love like crazy. You’ll see more of this man’s project over the next month… have no fear!
While this tune doesn’t particularly have a story or some way it really touched me, it does remind me of my brother (simply because I remember him enjoying it a lot) which is sort of nice. It also makes me think about what I mentioned earlier - we all have different tunes with different stories, but the fact of the matter is that we all have tunes with stories. That’s a nice way to tie us together, even if all people are absolutely completely different.
Anyways, cheers to MK and the other writers of SongJournal! Lets keep up the awesome songs and stories!
ps. it’s grass month on song journal.
